Sandi Harari is a 20+ year ad veteran, mentor, mother, and proud member of the original 3% of female creative directors. She has helped lead BARKER since 2006 and currently serves as its EVP, Creative Director – an impressive 15 year run in an industry rampant with management changes. During her time at BARKER, Sandi’s talents and experience in health and beauty, fashion, film, and lifestyle marketing verticals have been crucial to the agency’s growth and reputation.

Sandi’s hiring skills have resulted in a truly diverse environment at BARKER, with nearly 70% females at the director level and above and a 50% female creative team. The agency’s multi-faceted approach and commitment to serving as a data-driven creative boutique is unparalleled. In fact, Sandi maintains that every team member, from a senior level creative all the way to an intern, stays on top of the industry by studying current trends utilizing Mintel.

Sandi encourages creatives by speaking on diversity, work-life balance, and being a woman in a male-dominated industry at events like AdvertisingWeek NYC, SheSays, theCenter for Communication and the revolutionary 3% Conference. She has been recognized in industry publications including Ad Age, Adweek, and HuffPostand in 2017, she was honored as a Working Mother of the Year by She Runs It.

Sandi’s superpower has been her ability to create a unique and eclectic agency culture unlike any other, one of transparency, trust, responsibility and ownership where staff understand business from the ground up. Her philosophy is that everyone at an organization needs to wear an HR hat and that if they aren’t, they are missing out on building their culture and agency as a whole.

Sandi is also very focused on enrichment and how to best keep the creative team invigorated. For example, she developed BARKER’s Creative Mornings initiative, where once a week the agency hosts a guest focused on sharing another discipline- whether it be from music, technology, type design and even leading everyone through an hour of water coloring. It’s all about being expansive and remembering that advertising is as much a science as an art.

Prior to joining BARKER, Sandi ran her own boutique firm, Sandi Harari Design, where she worked on brands including Alliance, Atlantic Records, MTV, P&G, Lions Gate Films, and GlaxoSmithKline. She previously worked at Grey Entertainment under Grey Group, where she led launches for W Hotels, as well as campaigns for Uproar.com, Bravo Network, InStyle Magazine, and Topps. Earlier in her career, she designed the now-iconic movie posters for Oscar-winning films such as Monster’s Balland Mystic River.
